Pop of red

A quick post today featuring my go to pieces - black basics (of course!) in the form of a fitting pant, leather jacket and a oversize tunic top. I live and breathe black color, but I force myself to either wear a color from time to time or at least bring an accessory to an outfit that is in a vibrant color. This scarf is H&M (old) and unfortunately the pictures don't do its color justice. It is the most beautiful vibrant mix of red and orange - that in between hue. Leather jacket is a must in everyone's closet (including men) for those spring / fall days when it's not warm yet to ditch a jacket altogether and not cold enough for thicker outerwear.

Wearing: Wilsons Leather jacket (old, but a great option here); old tunic from Loehmann's; H&M pants; Sartore boots; Pulicati bag; H&M scarf (a great, affordable option here); Ray-Ban sunglasses.

Vintage brooch

I love vintage finds! First of all, chances are no one you know is going to have the exact same item (whatever it may be: necklace, ring, brooch, bag, you name it) so you can be totally unique with your look, but also vintage finds are usually dirt cheap. I got this brooch at an antique shop near us for about $3! How can you beat that price?! But it's not the price that really drew me to it; it was the embroidery detail and all the beautiful colors. If you don't feel like sifting through antique shops or flea markets, Etsy.com is a great option, which allows for online shopping at the comfort of your own home. I cannot count all the great stuff I got on Etsy over the years.
Happy Sunday everyone!

You see them everywhere - lace bras, that regardless if you show their straps a little bit or not, add a little flare to the outfit, even if you're the only one knowing you're wearing one. Here, I wanted to show off mine, but in reality, I don't think I would actually allow other people see it in person haha! I am too self conscious. Plus, I don't really do deep cleavage tops, and to showcase a cute lace bra you kind of have to wear deep cleavage. So for now, just blog pictures for me; no live interactions with other people when my bra straps are showing :)

Wearing: Asos lace bra (very similar here and here); H&M tee; Forever21 plaid shirt; Anine Bing jeans; Dune London ankle booties (got them on Asos).

Laid back camo

I love a good camo print. It's one of my favorite prints (if I ever even wear prints). It's casual, but for me, it adds an extra interest to the look. It can be a great accent as well - think a bag, shoes or a scarf. I love dressing my boys in camo prints too; but really I don't believe that it's only reserved for boys. This jacket is super old (from Old Navy) and it cost about $20 (on sale). I love how thick it is, not flimsy, it's pretty well made too; the stitches are pretty thick and despite washing it a few times already, it still looks well. But I actually wouldn't mind if it distressed a bit while washing; it would add the extra coolness to it :) I have a very similar jacket from Target in sandy beige, which I wear all the time as well. Its neutral color pairs with virtually anything!

Wearing: Old Navy camo jacket (old; very similar here and a Wet Seal one here); H&M pants; Steve Madden bag; Ray-Ban sunglasses.

Knit shell top

I am always on a lookout for a great shell top. Although this one is a knit and someone might not call it a shell top because of that, I consider it a shell top because it has all of the features of one. It is the perfect length for layering, has short sleeves and an extra bonus (for me): a high neck. I love high neck tops. It really checks all the boxes for me. I LOVE layering and for me shell tops are a must! I already worn it with two different blouses underneath it and a simple oversize white tee for a more casual look. The only negative thing about it is that it's pretty thick and will not be the best option for hot summer days, but knowing me I will wear it anyways and my husband will be annoyed with me again that I dress inappropriately for the weather haha! That's my thing, I can't help it :)
Wearing: Forever21 top (still available!); H&M pants; Forever21 metallic flats (old, but very similar here).

The best shirt dress

Hello! Since the title of my blog is obligating me to post all things frugal, today's post is a good example of what I fully stand for. It is my mantra when it comes to shopping that I try and find quality items, dare I even say 'designer', but for much less. I am a true believer in bargain shopping, especially when I know I can hunt down a good quality item for a fraction of the cost, enter Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Loehmann's and the like. Loehmann's unfortunately is not around in Illinois anymore, which was a huge loss for me, believe me! The other two places obviously offer a large variety of items and at very different price points, but I always like to look for those coveted, (sometimes) designer items for much less. TJ Maxx, for example, has a Runway section with designer pieces. Over the years I've gotten Helmut Lang, J Brand, Mackage, Vince, Vera Wang, L.A.M.B. and Ray-Ban items at TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack. For not-designer items, Asos is my go to, but also H&M, Zara, Forever21, Gap, Free People, Anthropologie, just to name a few. Today's look is H&M (both shirt and pants) and I could not LOVE this shirt dress more! The fabric is so soft and comfortable; I love the thin white-blue stripes and the cool sophistication it adds to the look. Heck, it makes the look! :) Can be worn to an office, but paired with ripped jeans and flat sandals will be a perfect beach, walk, running errands look. And with a price tag of $34.99 you cannot go wrong with this one!

All black

This All Saints dress is probably in my top 3 favorite pieces of clothing I own, really! I got it on asos.com a long time ago; in fact it was one of the first things I ever got on asos.com. Ever since, it has been worn so many times and for so many (very different) occasions I can't even keep count. It has definitely been a staple in my wardrobe, not just because it's black (my go to), but also because it is so easy to wear whatever the occasion calls for. It's one of those items that I wear with the same equal joy every time. Thinking back to a few years ago, I would catch myself buying stuff that I liked but not really loved, and then they would just sit in my closet forgotten or not worn because I would change my mind about them. Fast forward to the present and I find myself in a place that I really only get items that truly take my breath away (you know that initial gasp sound you make when you see something you REALLY love?) or I know are staples that will get worn over and over again. That dress was one of those items. Truly, I can see myself wearing it for many more years to come.

Wearing: All Saints dress (old, but very similar here); 7 for All Mankind jeans (old, but almost identical ones here; I DIY'd the rips); Forever21 pumps.
