Minimal jewelry

I adore all you fashionistas out there dressing in a very minimalistic way, because even though I appreciate (and own) some very subdued clothing, I am not a minimalist by a true meaning of the word. Now, when it comes to jewelry, I do tend to go the minimalist direction, despite owning some crazy looking necklaces and the like. I especially love very simple earrings. Those that are barely there, maybe even go unnoticed by most people. These, in the picture, are very representative of what I love in earrings: black tone, simple and clean design, but with an edgy twist. Those might actually get noticed after all :)

Rust

Is it coincidence that I happen to own a few pieces of clothing in this rust color and all of them have been purchased fairly recently? I know 'a few' does not seem like a lot, but let me just say that this color is not one you see someone wear everyday. The point being, I must gravitate towards it for some reason, when even a few years ago I NEVER owned a single thing in that color. Check out this recent post and this one as proof that I may be slowly becoming obsessed with it :)

Wearing: Asos pants (old, but aren't these pretty amazing?); H&M tee; H&M jacket; Charles David pumps.

If you are just looking to feature this color as an accent in your outfit, these Aldo sandals are pretty great!

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!

Converse love

Converse love. I really do love sneakers in general, but Converse especially. And even though I own just a few pairs I tend to wear them so often, it almost doesn't make sense to buy any other shoes for me... just kidding! But it is true, that I wear Converse sneakers very often, even to work as my 'walking shoes' to and from the train, which then I change to more appropriate office shoes. The white high tops are so classic and so versatile, in my mind, they go with everything!! They really do! Especially, when recently we have been seeing all the fashionistas out there pairing any kinds of sneakers with the most dainty and flowy dresses, elegant cigarette pants, you name it. There are no more rules to follow anymore on when it is appropriate to wear sneakers, so stock up you guys!
Wearing: Converse Chuck Taylor high tops; Asos column dress (on sale for only $17!!); H&M pants; Wilsons Leather jacket.

Super long cardigan

I love a great long cardigan that plays a double duty - an element of the entire look or simply an extra layer to stay warm. This Zara one is super long and definitely a statement! It will keep me warm this summer on cooler nights. Check out this post where I talk about another long cardigan by Forever21.

Wearing: Zara cardigan; Nasty Gal long striped tee; H&M pants; Qupid sandals; Ray-Ban sunglasses.

Date night

Early bird special date night that is! We're such parents, my hubby and I. We don't do this often, and when we do we want to be back home as quickly as possible haha. Plus, being tired seems to be a permanent phase for us, seriously! We came back home after being out for 2+ hours when our friend who was babysitting the boys assumed we would be back around midnight ha!

I love the colors of this Asos plaid cape coat, but more importantly it's the cape shape that gets me the most! It can 'make' an outfit in an instant and how appropriate that this past weekend's weather was so fall-like that I could dust it off and wear for a night out. Here, I paired it with more busy items, but paired with an all black look it will pop even more. It's definitely one of the statement pieces I own and will wear for years to come.

Wearing: Asos cape coat (old, another Asos one here); Helmut Lang sweater (via TheRealReal); Anine Bing jeans; Tom's ankle peep toes; Miss Sixty purse.

Matisse

Wasn't I recently talking about how much I love a pop of color in a monochrome outfit, or in this case a semi-monochrome outfit? In fact, I was talking about a pop of red... and even though the color of these Matisse ankle peep toes is not red, it's not very far from it. I love how it contrasts against the grey and white color palette. I have been eyeing them for quite a bit, and while I have too many ankle peep toes in my closet, I don't have any in any color other than beige or black. Needless to say, this beautiful rust color is what sold me on them with an extra bonus being how comfortable they are! This low heel is high enough to feel like I am not wearing flats, but low enough that I can really wear them all day and not even think about it. I got mine via Jet.com for less than $90, but there is only a 6.5 size left. I linked other sizes below via different websites.

Wearing: Matisse ankle peep toes (here via Nordstromhere via Shoes.com); J.Crew sweater; H&M white tee; Anine Bing jeans; Anthropologie bag (also available in black; both on sale!)

Beige and navy flowers shirt

Happy Friday to us all! Today's post is all about this beautiful Anthropologie shirt with navy embroidered flowers. I wish I had taken a picture that was a close-up on the embroidery... eh... but BELIEVE me when I say the detail is beautiful and I love the fact that the shirt isn't white, but an off-white, cream color. A great color combination if you ask me!
It can be buttoned up, but I went with an unbuttoned version with a white tee underneath for an extra layer. It will work just as well for a day at the beach, as it will dressed up for a dinner date.
Wearing: Anthropologie shirt (still available and on sale!); Anine Bing jeans; Dune London ankle peep-toes (via asos.com; still available and on sale!)

Window pane

A classic today - a window pane print, which we most often see on tops and dresses, as opposed to bottoms. For some it may be too boring of a print, for others this will be the extent to which they're willing to wear prints. For me, although I would normally say 'not interesting enough', it is a great option to wear to an office. Here, paired with a pair of black pant, it creates a good example of an office attire, but paired with boyfriend (and ripped) jeans will look more casual and weekend ready. The reversed color palette - a white background with navy or black print - is another great neutral option for both elegant and causal styles.

Wearing: Forever21 shirt (old; but almost identical one here from Kohl's; a more casual style here); Helmut Lang pants; Dune London ankle peep toe booties.

Mickey Mouse

I love a good print on a basic tee. It's even better if it's sequined :) I am not sure if you can tell that this one is sequined, but it is! Those are so fun if you want to transform a pretty basic look (with a basic color palette) into a whimsical and playful outfit. Nothing more playful than a print of a cartoon character, right? Case in point with this tee and a Mickey Mouse print. Let your inner child come out and get creative with fun print tees.

Wearing: Shein.com tee (this one is so cute; how fun is this veggies print one?); Helmut Lang pants; Forever21 blazer; Asos pumps.
