Today's post features pictures taken a few weekends ago before we got hit with 90 degree weather. This structured vest by BCBG Max Azria bought at Nordtsrom Rack a few years ago is still such a beloved piece of mine. I've owned it for a long time and I always re-invent how I style it; this post from about a year ago is a good example of dressing this vest down with some casual pieces. But enough about the vest; this long, flower-printed shirt is more boho looking than I would normally prefer, but somehow paired with this structured vest takes on a more elegant feel. Another option is to pair it with relaxed, ripped jeans to transform it into a very easy-breezy look for a fun summer night out.

Wearing: Forever21 shirt dress (sold out, but this dress from Lulu's is very similar); BCBG Max Azria vest; Target jeans; Qupid booties via modcloth.com (on sale and only a few left!)

Oxblood, burgundy...

This color is definitely considered a 'fall' color (and I do love heavier knits in this burgundy color), but I say 'who cares?' I have this beautiful, silky fabric here, which I am only supposed to wear in the fall because of its color? But in all seriousness, how great is this Helmut Lang top altogether, not to mention the fact that this lighter color you see on the shoulders and back is actually an incredibly soft leather. Love a good leather detail!
I mentioned before that Helmut Lang is one of my favorite brands, but it's quite pricey. Fortunately, there's places like TheRealReal.com where you can find designer pieces for a lot less. And I mean a lot! This one cost me only $50. Talk about being frugal :)
Wearing: Helmut Lang top (old model no longer available, but check out this Helmut Lang one instead or this burgundy one); Anine Bing jeans; Steve Madden peep toes (old, but these are almost identical and also by Steve Madden); Badgley Mischka bag.

Lace is probably everyone's favorite way to add a delicate touch to any look. Come summer, lace is everywhere and really whatever your preference is, you can wear a lace top, lace skirt, lace dress, lace shorts...you get the idea. Some pieces are obviously more intricate and come with a bigger price tag, but if you want to get just one item and not spend a fortune, think no further and visit Forever21, which is where I got this navy top.

Wearing: Forever21 lace top (sold out, but check out this one; it's very similar and so beautiful!); Anine Bing jeans; Matisse ankle booties; Gianni Ferragni bag.

Wrap skirt

A quick post today featuring this black wrap skirt (by Boohoo via asos.com) that is very versatile and can be worn in many different ways. Here, I styled mine for a more edgy look, but when I first saw it on Asos.com it was styled with a crisp white button down shirt for a clean office look. Layer on a killer statement necklace and you've got yourself a classic office look with a twist. My styling includes a moto leather jacket, a tee and black footless tights. I love the red pop of color on the grey tee.
Wearing: Boohoo wrap skirt (via asos.com on sale for only $17.50!); Old Navy tee; DKNY leather jacket; Asos footless tights; Qupid peep toe sandals; Ray-Ban sunglasses.

Pink bowtie

A great way to add some interest to a look is obviously through accessorizing, but this bow-tie is less obvious than, say, a statement necklace, which means it will make you stand out from a crowd! Its blush tone can go with many color options because it's subtle enough that even with the most vibrant color it will not look too 'out there'. I love the contrast of the blush tone with this particular blue denim shirt. Bow-tie will make your outfit sophisticated and is also office appropriate, which is a huge plus in my book.

Wearing: Oasis shirt (via asos.com); Asos bow-tie (only $11.50!); Asos marble sunglasses; H&M pants; Modcloth peep toes.

Black and white

Love, love, love this super long tunic top from Nasty Gal! It is incredibly soft and I can already picture so many different ways I will wear it over the summer (check out this recent post where I am wearing it as well)! Here, I tucked it in for a cool, effortless look, but let down can be worn as a dress, it is THAT long! The V-neck neckline will look great with a statement necklace, but I layered on a bra top underneath for more dimension. The same color palette of both pieces provides interest and grabs attention instantly. All I needed to complete the look was a pair of my favorite jeans, some ankle booties and I am good to go!

Wearing: Nasty Gal long tee (sold out, but very similar here); Asos bra top (sold out, but similar black & white one here); G-Star jeans; Tom's ankle peep toes; Swatch watch; earrings via this etsy.com shop

Basic white tee

We all have it or are in a never-ending hunt for - the perfect white tee that is. I have a few places I go to for great tees (Gap for example), but this one I just recently found at Anthropologie. I like that it flares out as opposed to having a classic cut and I like the henley style top with the little buttons. The perfect white t-shirt is as big of a staple in my wardrobe as a black leather jacket or a great pair of ankle boots.

Wearing: Anthropologie tee (still available and on sale for $29.95!); Anine Bing jeans; Melissa flats (love them; also on sale via 6pm.com); Rafe bag; Nasty Gal necklace.
