Shift dress

My favorite type of dress style - a shift. You may know by now that I do not typically wear figure hugging silhouettes; I much rather wear loose fitting clothing, very drape-y and away from the body. A shift dress not only provides me with comfort for the weekend, but it's also appropriate for office! Which means that some dresses (if the print and texture is right) I can wear both to the office and outside of work. Case in point - the dress I am wearing in today's post. Stripes make this dress more interesting than a solid color would for the office, but it's casual enough in its style that I can wear it on the weekend too when I am running errands or doing things with my boys. The length is perfect too - I hardly ever wear skirts or dresses above my knee; this below the knee length is my favorite and despite the fact that it covers more than it uncovers, I think there's nothing more sexy than the below the knee (and midi) length.
Wearing: Boohoo shift dress (via asos.com; sold out but this Asos one is very similar; another more affordable Asos one for less than $36); Free People ankle boots; [no name] fabric shopper bag.

Eye catching detail

I am all about an interesting detail! Sometimes I may be the one knowing about it (if it's a beautiful coat lining or stitching for example), but it's OK, because for me it's not about flashy outfits or being flashy with brands. In fact, I prefer that no one knows what brand my clothes are, even if I spent a little more on it than I would normally. Granted, most my clothing is purchased on a budget, but I do have a few special pieces that cost me more, but no one necessarily knows that, because it doesn't have its name written all over it!
But enough about that, today's post is about the interesting detail that those Mango jeans bring. Enter, the uneven fly closure. I think it's very edgy and unexpected and I love that the rest of the look can be quite simple when you wear something with an interesting detail.

Wearing: Mango jeans (old, but similar Mango jeans here and currently on sale!); Free People shirt; Matisse ankle booties (on sale now and still available via Mindy Mae's Market); Zara necklace.

Off the shoulder

I jumped on the off-the-shoulder-blouses band wagon... It is such a huge trend right now, and even though I am not one to go all bare and wear cleavage-exposing tops, you can't beat the fact that in the summer heat tops like this feel so comfortable and breezy. This one is made of such a lightweight and breathable fabric that I am sure I will wear it over and over again this summer. Hot trends, they come and go, so if you don't want to spend a fortune on a piece of clothing you may not wear two summers from now, opt for an affordable option. Mine is from Shein.com and they have a huge selection of not only off-the-shoulder tops,  but a whole slew of other great summer pieces!

Wearing: Shein blouse (how amazing is this one?); Anine Bing jeans; BCBG sandals.
Shein.com is currently having a pre-sale of their own designs on the website at great prices! Check it out here!

#it's banana

These lovely Banana Republic sandals speak for themselves, right? Nothing else in your look needs to be fancy when these are around :) I am so excited about them; they will go with so many different pieces in my closet (skirts, dresses, basic black slim pants, other pairs of jeans), but I think I will still keep my looks pretty monochrome so that these babies stand out. I love the fringe effect in the front and the mix of these two (greyish white and red) colors is so beautiful!
Wearing: Banana Republic sandals (my color is sold out, but beige ones are still available in a few sizes!); H&M tee; Asos lace bra top; Maison Scotch jeans.

My favorite laid-back style

My favorite style - jeans, a t-shirt and peep toe shoes (sandals, ankle booties, you name it). Basic, comfortable, but oh so good! You can keep it as simple or as elevated as you want. If simple is your choice - leave your look at that, but if more sophistication is what you want, add a killer necklace, earrings, clutch or a scarf and you're done! I opted for one more layer with this short sleeve jacket from Forever21 in this beautiful green hue. It has a beige-red print lining, which you can see in one of the pictures. That's just it - it's all in the details. It may be a very basic look, but I suddenly feel very dressed-up thanks to the jacket and all its interesting details. A little pop of color from the lining, although subtle, adds a nice touch.
Wearing: Forever21 jacket; H&M tee; Maison Scotch boyfriend jeans (old, but another Maison Scotch here via asos.com which are almost identical; these are also very similar); BCBG lace-up peep toe sandals; vintage gold necklace.

Elephant tee

I love a good print tee, which I have talked about before here. Such an easy way to spice up any outfit! Keep everything else very simple and let the tee do the talking. I love this elephant print tee I am wearing; the subdued rose-pink color is really pretty and the purple elephant print complements the pink color and vice versa. The elephant print itself is slightly washed off (on purpose of course!), which makes the tee look very vintage and that's always a plus in my book! I layered a white plain tee underneath for more dimension.

Wearing: Shein elephant print tee; H&M white tee; Anine Bing jeans; Alexander Wang bag; Charles David pumps.

Red, white and blue... Anthropologie!

Happy 4th of July! How appropriate, color-wise, is this beautiful Anthropologie top for today's holiday? Couldn't be more in love with it: the lace is so pretty and the intense red color is stunning! I will keep this post short and sweet and run off to spend time with my kids, so I am leaving you with the pictures and wish everyone a great rest of the day!

Wearing: Anthropologie top (a VERY similar one from Shein.com here); Bing jeans; Dune London ankle peep toes, Kelsi Dagger bag.

Free People

Hello and happy Friday! A long weekend is upon us, yay!
Today's post is all about this Free People bra I love those two particular colors together - magenta underneath and raspberry-pink overlay. Free People labeled it as a sports/active bra, but I will wear it on a daily basis as a bra top with my low cut tee, so the beautiful colors peek through. I already talked about how much I love layering bra tops with basic tees and when I saw this one I just had to have it!
Now, the shoes... Also Free People and come in four colors, but I fell in love with this mustard yellow version. For those that have been reading my previous posts (or seen my Instagram account) you know how obsessed I am with mustard yellow color. Those particular booties are flat and make for the most comfortable peep toe booties I own. So beautiful!

Wearing: Free People bra; H&M tee; H&M blazer; Anine Bing jeans; Free People booties; Madewell bag; Swatch watch.
