NYE dress

Today, a post featuring this gorgeous lace dress by Asos just in time for some NYE style inspiration for you guys! I got it awhile back, but found some similar ones (and just as spectacular) and linked them below. We may be taking it easy this NYE (read: nothing that requires a dress and a tuxedo haha), but I thought this post might offer some inspiration for those of you that need to dress up. I am hoping to get many more uses out of this dress; I am thinking weddings, a holiday party, fancy dinner date, you name it. Hope you have a great NYE night!

Wearing: Asos dress (old, similar linked below); Nine West pumps (linked below); no name vintage clutch.

Ruffle blouse & leather jacket

Soft and edgy! This ruffle blouse is so delicate and feminine and the jacket adds a little bit of spice and edge (my favorite word haha). The combination is simple, but interesting and you can't edgy it up more than with a leather jacket, am I right? This jacket is sooooo old! I actually didn't wear it at all for a period of time, until recently when I saw it as if in a new light, and since then have been wearing it constantly. That's the thing with classic pieces - NEVER throw them out! They're timeless and you will go back to them over and over again.

Wearing: Asos ruffle blouse (old, similar herehere, and here); Wilson's Leather jacket (very old, similar herehere, and here); Monki jeans (also similar here); Target boots (sold out, similar hereherehere, and here);

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays everyone!
May this time be filled with love, laughter, family, friends and lots of good food! Let's be grateful and thankful for everything and everyone in our lives during this time and always! And hey, a break from work isn't too shabby either, so cheers to that.

I wrote about this Zara coat before, but it was already sold out through Black Friday before my post hit the blog... Here it is again, back in stock, but only in a few sizes (mine is S). Anyways, I love it so much, but haven't had much chance to wear it, since we got hit with really cold temperatures in Chicago.
Back to this look - isn't a grey and camel/beige color combination the most classic of all things classic? I love the simplicity of this look and how it is appropriate for many occasions.
Wearing: Zara coat (also love this one here, and here); Zara sweater; Monki jeans (now on sale for less than $35 and only a few sizes left, also love these here); Anthropologie booties (old, similar here,
here, here and here); Anarchy Street necklace (sold out, similar here, use code MONIKA_G20 for a 20% discount); Pulicati bag (old via TJ Maxx, similar here and here).

Colorful jacket

I love the colors of this H&M jacket, but mind you that the background color is a complete accident, despite being almost an identical match to the jacket :)
I got it on sale awhile back, for a whopping $10! It's thick enough for slightly cooler temperatures (it's padded), but could also easily be worn on warmer spring or fall days. I kept the rest of the outfit plain and simple to let the jacket shine. Hope you guys enjoy it!
Wearing: H&M jacket (old, similar herehere, here, and here); Asos top; Asos jeans (old, similar here, here); Charlotte Russe scarf (old, similar here, here, and here); Target ankle boots (sold out, similar here and here); Zara bag (old, very similar here, and here); Etsy earrings.

Lush velvet...

Speaking of velvet (see a recent post of mine about velvet boots), the velvet trend has been staring at us from every magazine page, and by every magazine page, I mean EVERY magazine page! It's everywhere and will stay with us all winter long or even beyond that, my humble opinion. It's lush and adds warmth to an outfit, which, frankly, is what we all need in winter. Above, some inspirational pieces, and below I've linked some great, affordable options as well.

Velvet: Zara loafers, Zara bomber jacket (love!), Shein baseball cap, Blively bag, TJ Maxx bodysuit, TJ Maxx decorative pillow.

Not so basic...

If you were looking for something festive enough to wear to a holiday party or any kind of party, really, look no more! How gorgeous is this gray sweater with shimmery sequins? Not so basic gray sweater anymore, right? I just love it! Such a show stopper and a conversation piece... Looks great with jeans, but dressed up with elegant pants or a pencil skirt, it will look so much more elevated than it already is.

Wearing: Shein sweater (less than $30!); H&M white tee; Monki jeans (plus a very similar pair here); Sam Edelman flats (old, similar herehere and here).

Velvet boots

These velvet Target booties speak for themselves. They are so on trend right now, but really, trend or not, they are so unique and eye catching that I had to get them! I love these particular jewel tones, which make the velvet texture even richer. I am wearing a toned down look here, but they will go so well with a more elegant look for all those holiday parties coming up in the upcoming weeks!

Wearing: Target velvet boots (sold out, but similar here, here, and here); Asos shirt (old, similar here); Monki jeans (sold out, similar here and here); LaRedoute wrap sweater (very old, similar here and here); H&M belt (very old).

New eyeglasses

I have been posting pictures of these EyeBuyDirect glasses on my Instagram account, because I just love them! I have been wanting to get a pair of glasses that I could use as my computer-use glasses. Luckily my vision is fine and I never needed corrective lenses, but because I do stare at my laptop all day long, it was time to get a pair that would protect my eyes (especially that I do sometimes get headaches and my eyes itch). I came across EyeBuyDirect by accident and was immediately drawn in by their huge selection of frames and lenses, which are at very different price points to cater to everyone's budget. I already have my eye on at least a couple different frames.
Wearing: EyeBuyDirect 'Aurora' glasses; Forever21 dress worn as tunic top (old, similar here, here, here and here); J.Crew check scarf (old, similar here, here, and here); Monki jeans (sold out, similar here and here); Target ankle boots (sold out, similar here and here).

Stripes and Converse

Stripes, stripes, stripes! A throwback to a summer look today, but when it comes to stripes, they never really go away as the seasons change, do they? We all love them and own a few pieces in this pattern! Almost every season (not only in the summer) they re-appear in one form or another. This Forever21 long tee is perfect to be worn on its own, but I could also throw a sharp blazer over it, replace my jeans and sneakers with more elegant pieces, and I have an office look that is classic and appropriate. How do you like wearing your stripes?

Wearing: Forever21 tee (sold out, similar herehere, and here); Anine Bing jeans (sold out, similar here and here); Converse sneakers; Asos marble sunglasses (sold out, very similar here and here); old necklace from Loehmann's.
