How to wear the tie dye trend
Today’s post is on how to pull off the tie dye trend! It’s one that suddenly emerged and at first I wasn’t paying attention to it at all (because frankly, I don’t love tie dye a 100%) but then it started growing on me. I will still say with a 100% certainty that I am not into every single variation of this pattern out there, but this particular sweater I am wearing, yes, I am a fan of it 🙂
I got it a few months back at Nordstrom Rack during Black Friday sale. I like that it has a waist length and that the tie dye is only that small accent on it rather than taking over the entire sweater. The triangular shape is also very cool and I love that there’s neutrals there too, like the white and black.
I know tie dye can be a bit much but because here it’s only that small accent, I decided to wear my green striped pants hoping that the stripes and tie dye is not too much together. You be the judge of that 🙂 but I think I like the green both in the sweater and pants. To me, it’s not too much but I am of course a color wearing person so color and patterns are never too much for me LOL! 🙂
I keep forgetting I have these Maison Scotch pants my closet though… but whenever I do put them on, I am so happy! I really am! The finishing touches on these are just amazing (which you can’t really see yourself) like the lining, stitching, etc. I love details like that – when you know the label really cares about making their garments very special and those details are just as important.
Back to the tie dye… do you like it at all? I feel like I might just stick to tie dye in small doses just like my sweater LOL! But I will say this, when wearing a full tie dye pattern on something, keep the rest pretty basic and in a solid color. Tie dye pattern is busy enough that I feel like it needs the rest of the outfit be neutral so it can really shine through!
Wearing: A.L.C. sweater (a Nordstrom Rack find; similar here, here, here, here, and here); Maison Scotch pants; Sam Edelman block heel sandals (very similar here, now for $17!!); Zara bag (similar here and here).
I love how you styled that top with those pants!

Thanks! I thought the greens would work nicely together!
I’ve never done a tie dye sweater before, but I love this!! I used to tie dye at camp and I miss how fun it was. I may break it out again, thanks to your post!!
Oh, thank YOU Ashleigh! That means a lot to me! It’s my only tie dye piece but I like it! 🙂
You make this look easy. Completely into those heels.
Thank you Jenny! These sandals (and that particular style) have been my go-to’s!
Tie dye is one of my favorite trends
Yes, same! Thanks Jenna!
Tie and Dye is a popular trend in India specially in Rajasthan. They do beautiful sarees and indian outfits with tie and dye material. I love to see it abroad as well. That jumper is looking beautiful – making a statement but still in a subtle way!
Thanks Ashh! I do know what you’re referring to; those designs are beautiful!
